Library Services

User Orientation Programme

The fresher are formally introduced to the library sources and services at the beginning of every academic year department wise. The students of each department are taken to each and every section of the library by the library staff and are introduced to the diverse sources and services, so as to make them familiar with the library to gain maximum use of the library.

Library hours

Usually the library remains open from 7.30 AM to 7.30 PM on all working days. However, there will be change in the schedule depending upon the need .
Open access

The greatest advantage that a library can offer to its readers is its open shelf system. This system enables the users to have direct and easy access to the book collection providing good opportunity and freedom to examine and browse the books. It encourages the users to develop a closer acquaintance with the diversity of information sources available in the library.

Loan period

The users are eligible to borrow only two books against each borrower ticket for a period of 8 days. The books kept in reference section, and the periodicals normally will not be issued. However under certain conditions the reference textbooks are issued to overnight reference and return. Those who fail to return/renew the books within a specified due date will be levied an overdue charge of Re. 1.00 per book per day
New arrivals Display

Some selected titles of new books acquired by the library are displayed in New Arrivals Display racks for the benefit of users. These books will be on display for at least one week and after that they will be made available to borrow.

Inter Library Loan

It is not possible for any institution, however rich its resources, to buy all the books published even in a discipline. Hence, it is inevitable to depend on other organizations to share information sources for the mutual benefit of users; the privilege of Inter-Library loan is restricted to faculty members and to those engaged in research. Books not available in cmrims Library but required by faculty members and research scholars will be procured from IIMB, British Council and DELNET libraries on inter-library loan

News paper Clipping Service

Press clipping service is one of the most important services in a library. The press clipping means the cutting of news items etc., daily from newspapers in an organization and sending them to officials, decision-makers etc., who will find them useful. CMRIMS Library has also undertaken such service.

Reprographic Service

The library provides reprographic service to the users on priced basis. This saves the time of the users to a great extent

Library Software

Library is an effective source of information to be shared by students, Teachers and others. A good library hosts everything in the form of words to enrich the knowledge of the users.

Providing information about everything under the sun, under one roof in one geographical location is next to impossible. Hence there must be a way to share information that is spread over, and that can be achieved only through the effective use of electronic media. Complete computerization of all the libraries and a dedicated, centralized server to host information available at different libraries will help in effective sharing of information. A library is completely computerized only if the user, irrespective of background or knowledge, is able to access information available in the library from anywhere just by typing few letters /words. We have a library software (LIBSOFT) developed by Environ software (P) Limited. Bangalore.

Digital Library

Digital Library different service activities have been offered to the academic community for their research and academic purpose by supplying the information available locally and globally through internet. In this direction the Library has already initiated and collected e-resources in physical form viz., CD-ROM's, Audio Cassettes, Floppy Disk's etc., also providing the facility to access e-journals, e-databases, abstracts & indexes under Developing library Network (DELNET)Programme.
